Frequently Asked Questions
Alright, so hopefully you’re looking around and everything makes sense and you get it. But, if you’re kind of wondering what’s going on and you’re not clear on the details, this should clear them up for you. If you have a question you don’t see answered here, PM a staff member or post in the What’s Going On?? board in the OOC section. Please read this F.A.Q. to see if your question has already been covered here before you rush into asking us.

+ What’s the deal with the timeline?
The easy part of the answer to that question is: right now, the site takes place in the Summer of 2011.
In relation to The Lost Boys, it has been 24 years since the events of the first movie.
In relation to Lost Boys: The Tribe, it has been 3 years since the events of that movie.
In relation to The Vampire Diaries, we are jumping off from the first season finale, “Founders Day,” and fast-forwarding to the summer. This means all the Mystic Falls High seniors will have graduated.
+ Why isn’t Lost Boys: The Thirst being accounted for here?
Some of the things that happen in Lost Boys: The Thirst are contradictory to the first two movies. I also wanted people playing canons from The Lost Boys and Lost Boys: The Tribe to have freedom with what they do with their characters. Incorporating Lost Boys: The Thirst would severely limit that freedom.
+ Is anything from Lost Boys: The Thirst being used here?
Possibly. I’m not saying we can’t include it at all. If there is a plot or species element you’re interested in including, let me know and we’ll see what we can do. If you’re interested in playing a canon from Lost Boys: The Thirst, it’s possible. Again, let me know and we can discuss it.
+ Why isn’t season 2 of The Vampire Diaries being accounted for here?
When I started building this site season 2 hadn’t started yet, so the whole concept was based on taking off from season 1 and jumping forward. I did toy with bringing in season 2, but I felt the site would be a bit lop-sided. People playing characters from The Lost Boys films would have had much more freedom with their characters’ plots than those who played characters from The Vampire Diaries during season 2. I wanted people to have freedom with their characters’ storylines.
+ Is anything from season 2 of The Vampire Diaries being used here?
Absolutely. Canons introduced in season 2 can and will make appearances on the board. Plotlines from season 2 may still occur, but don’t absolutely have to. It’s all determined by what everyone wants to do with their individual character plots. Nothing is out of the question.
+ How do Chris and Nicole from Lost Boys: The Tribe fit in?
For the purposes of this site, Chris and Nicole are the half-siblings of Sam and Michael Emerson: the children of their father from a second marriage.
+ Are Star and Michael dead in this RP?
No. There is no concrete evidence in either The Lost Boys or Lost Boys: The Tribe that says they’re dead.
+ Is Sam dead in this RP?
No. There is no concrete evidence in The Lost Boys or Lost Boys: The Tribe to confirm he’s dead. A snippet scene at the end of the credits doesn’t count, in my opinion.
+ What’s the situation with Alan Frog?
That’s entirely up to whoever plays him. In Lost Boys: The Tribe, Alan’s fate is kept vague. We have a few very vague references to him and not much else. So, I’m flexible with what Alan’s player will do with him. I’m also aware that there aren’t many pictures at all out there of Jamison Newlander, so his faceclaim is also flexible for that reason, provided the one the player picks looks reasonably like he could be Alan Frog.
+ What exactly is a Head Vampire?
For the purposes of this site, a Head Vampire is a very old, very powerful vampire who controls a nest or family of lesser vampires.
+ What exactly is an Original Vampire?
An Original Vampire is a very old, powerful vampire who can control less powerful vampires.
+ What’s the difference between a Head Vampire and an Original Vampire?
For the purposes of this site, they’re the same thing. Both are old, powerful vampires who can control lesser vampires. All other vampires originated from these types of vampires. The only difference is that Head Vampires wrangle a close-knit group of vampires and Original Vampires tend to either operate alone, or non-exclusively manipulate whatever lesser vampires they need to, rather than having one small loyal group.
+ What’s the deal with the vampires? Are they based on The Lost Boys or The Vampire Diaries?
Both. For the purposes of this site, there are not two different types or species of vampire. They’re all the same type. They just may have different properties and abilities. See the Species Guide for more information.
+ How do you kill an Original or Head Vampire?
There is no known way to kill these types of vampires. All you can do is incapacitate them for a while. But, they can always come back…
+ Can other species not listed be played?
No, not at this time.
+ Can I play a Head Vampire or an Original?
No. At the moment, these types of vampires will be admin-played as the RP requires. They’re too powerful and affect things too drastically to be played full-on willy nilly by a lot of different people.
+ Why can’t I post mature content?
That is part of the Proboards Terms of Service. Please do not post pornographic or heavily sexual material, racist material, threatening material, or anything of that sort of nature. You may post romantic material. We understand some characters we’re writing are in relationships and may be affectionate. Just don’t go overboard with it and cross into porn land. A swear here or there is forgivable, but don’t riddle all your posts with foul language. A spot of in-character violence is okay, but don’t get overly graphic with it. This kind of stuff CAN NOT be posted ANYWHERE on this board, or the site may be deleted by Proboards. This isn’t just me being a prude here.
+ How do animals react to supernaturals here?
I don't have any set rules on how animals react to the supernaturally inclined. Some characters can affect or communicate with animals. Some animals may be trained by or loyal to a supernatural. There's no set reaction an animal has to have to a vampire or a werewolf. That's completely dependent on the temperament of the animal and your imaginations.
+ Can vampires detect one another?
That's a tough call. In The Lost Boys it's unclear whether they can or they can't detect their own because all the vampires who come in contact with each other already know one another. In The Vampire Diaries they specifically say vampires can't detect one another. So, for now, it's up to you, BUT for the most part assume vampires generally aren't that great at detecting one another unless they're out looking for a vampire.
This is not an all-inclusive list of questions and answers, so if you have a question not answered here, or would like a more thorough answer to one of the posted questions, PM a staff member or post in the What’s Going On?? board.
