When Tyler decided to throw a Graduation party, Caroline was the first person to jump on board, which led to her offering to help out. Tyler might have been the one spearheading the party, but he wasn’t exactly the “host” type. So, Caroline was taking on the role of hostess to make sure there were snacks and welcome everybody.
The Lockwood Estate was quiet as she walked into the dining room carrying a bag of chips. Tyler was around somewhere, but he’d disappeared into some other part of the house and Caroline was too busy to go hunt him down. It wasn’t like she was his baby-sitter. But, if he expected to take all the credit for this little shindig without lifting a finger to help out, he was in for a rude awakening.
Caroline opened the bag of chips and dumped its contents into a bowl she’d set down on the dining room table. There was a bowl of pretzels beside it and there were a few big bottles of soda along with plenty of stacked plastic cups. Alcoholic beverages were at the bar, but whether or not people helped themselves to those was Tyler’s call. She wouldn’t be the one getting grounded if too many bottles of rum were missing.
She went back into the kitchen to toss the empty bag in the trash as she tried to think of anything else she might’ve been forgetting to do.

Tyler came down the stairs scrubbing a white terrycloth towel over his dark hair. He was feeling much better after his run now that he had showered and changed into clothes that were actually clean and not drenched in sweat. He had heard a bit of noise downstairs when he came out of the bathroom but a quick glance at the ornate clock in the upstairs hallway made him realize that it wasn't long until time for the party to start and that Caroline had probably come early to do her thing.
"Hey," he said as he came into the kitchen, seeing her toss the empty bag into the trash. He draped his towel around his shoulders and snagged one of the chips from the snack bowl she had set out, his eyebrows furrowing as he grabbed up the bowl and carried it over, setting it on the counter. "Not that one. My mom would kill me if somebody broke it," he said, bending down to rummage through a cabinet to find something more suitable to hold the chips. Finally he emerged with a serving bowl that was plastic and neon green... it was tacky but he doubted anyone would notice and he really didn't care if they did.
"I'm surprised you didn't put up balloons and streamers," he teased her, smirking a little as he emptied the contents of the ornate crystal bowl into the green plastic one.

“Hey.”
Caroline turned around when she heard Tyler’s voice. His hair was wet and he had a towel around his neck. He must have hopped in the shower. She smiled and gave a little wave.
“Hey.”
He ate a chip and picked up the bowl, carrying it over to the counter. Caroline gave him a questioning look – not that he could see it, facing the counter.
“Not that one. My mom would kill me if somebody broke it.”
“Oh.”
Caroline nodded in understanding. She’d been at the Lockwoods’ so much over the years either attending events or helping plan them, she knew the mansion as well as her own house. Sometimes she forgot there were little things she didn’t know.
“I’m surprised you didn’t put up balloons and streamers.”
She watched Tyler find another bowl and transfer the chips into it. She wrinkled her nose a little – the bowl was kind of ugly – but she didn’t say anything. This was his house and his stuff and he’d use what he wanted.
Caroline folded her arms over her chest. Was he mocking her or had he really been expecting balloons and streamers? Probably a little of both. She did tend to go a little over-board with these kinds of things. But, that was also why Mrs. Lockwood liked for her to help with things sometimes. She might have been over-zealous, but she got things done.
“Well, if I’d had time to get snacks and decorate I would have,” she said. “But, I couldn’t do both and I decided snacks were more important.”
She smiled and looked him up and down.
“So, what have you been doing that made you have to take a shower right before the party?”
She raised a teasing eyebrow.

Tyler smirked at her question and didn't miss a beat in answering it. "Whatever it was, Caroline, you can bet it was really dirty," he said with a suggestive waggle of his eyebrows as disappeared through the doorway into the living room. He went over to the stereo and switched it on, popping open the 30-disc CD changer so that he could start switching the discs in and out and make sure there was a decent variety of great tunes for the night. Caroline had the whole food thing under control and it was up to him to make sure the music lasted throughout the night. After swapping out a few of the oldies CDs that his mother had managed to sneak in for something more modern, he closed the CD drawer and started the music playing, turning the volume down low for the time being before returning to the kitchen.
"Besides," he continued, nudging her as he brushed past her on his way over to the kitchen sink, "showering is in. You might wanna try it sometime." With his back to her now as he turned on the faucet and started washing his hands, he grinned to himself, knowing that there would be an offended huff and defensive comment coming from the blonde. He just loved getting under her skin.

She wrinkled her brows and chuckled as he walked into the living room. Okay, so it wasn’t exactly an answer, but she’d only half expected one. She cracked open one of the bottles of soda and grabbed a plastic cup, pouring herself some orange soda. It was a little early to start drinking hardcore. Besides, she was partially responsible as co-host for making sure no one wrecked Tyler’s house. She’d have to be mostly sober for that job.
She’d capped the soda bottle and set it down when Tyler returned, giving her a nudge as he went by.
“Besides, showering is in. You might wanna try it sometime.”
Caroline turned to give him a dirty look, but he was already at the sink. She rolled her eyes.
“I shower daily, thank you very much,” she said. “But apparently you’re not a fan of the Tommy Hilfiger fragrance I’m wearing. But, hey, everybody can’t have my fabulous taste.”
She shrugged and took a sip of her soda.

Katherine walked up the long driveway to the Lockwood house. Really it wasn't just a house, it was a mansion. One that Katherine could appreciate. The Lockwood's had it all. A founding family and all the accouterments that went with it.
This was going to be an interesting night. A true test of how far she could go to pull off the "Elena" act. She had gotten the word that Tyler Lockwood was going to have a graduation party for the Mystic Falls Class of 2011, of which her doppelganger was one. The perfect time to see if she could blend in.
As she approached the door her fist thoughts were she hoped that it wouldn't seem odd if she had to stand outside for a few. That was the first trick of the day. She had to get 'invited in' by someone who lived there without making it seem out of the ordinary. The back door was wide open so she tried to make it look like she was admiring the shrubbery while hoping that Tyler would see her and ask her in.

"Never said I wasn't a fan, Caroline," he replied as he dried his hands off on a clean dish towel and then shoved it aside on the counter, obviously not caring so much if everything was perfectly neat and in place. He gave the blonde a quick once-over as he turned, not really caring if she saw it or not. He was Tyler Lockwood... everybody knew that he appreciated a good set of feminine curves. Girls expected him to check them out; back at school he remembered hearing sighs of disappointment from some of the underclassmen if he didn't look their way when walking down the hall. Of course, he only liked telling himself that... as if his ego needed to be fed anymore. And if he had been thinking out loud, he knew that Caroline would have said something just to that effect.
He turned and grabbed one of the plastic cups that she had set out and headed over to the freezer, pulling it open so that he could grab a few ice cubes for his drink when he froze, his gaze landing on Katherine wandering around outside.
"What's Elena doing?" he asked Caroline, puzzled as he closed the freezer door and walked over to the back screen door, pushing it open. "Hey, are you coming in or what?" he asked her with a little chuckle. "I mean the party hasn't exactly started yet but I'd hope it's at least more fun in here than looking at the bushes."

Caroline watched Tyler dry his hands and toss the towel onto the counter. She rolled her eyes. God, guys were such slobs! She walked over to the counter as he turned around. Maybe he didn’t care if things looked a little messy, but she did. She’d let the hideous green bowl slide, but outright messiness was just unnecessary.
She wrinkled her brows at Tyler as she went to pick up the towel. Was he just checking her out? Whatever. That was Tyler. He checked out anything female that drifted into his line of vision. She picked up the towel and looked around for somewhere neat to put it.
“What’s Elena doing?”
Caroline blinked at him. Elena? What was he talking about? She followed his gaze to the back door. Elena was hanging around outside looking at… something. She couldn’t really tell what. How long had she been there?
“I don’t know…” Caroline said.
She started opening the cabinets under the sink while Tyler went over to the back door to ask Elena if she was coming in. Caroline hung the dish towel on a rack inside one of the cabinets and closed it, giving the room a once-over to make sure nothing looked gross.
