I’m gonna drown in that troubled water
It’s comin’ ‘round my soul
It’s way beyond control
I must be one of the devil’s daughters

History
Arynn Giselle Lewis was born on July 22, 1988 to Loretta and Brian Lewis in Tampa, Florida. She was a beautiful baby, but from the moment hre parents brought her home she was difficult. She was a very fussy baby. She was very quiet in elementary school, doing as she was told and keeping to herself in class. Even at recess she didn't interact much with the other children. Her anti-social behavior was a concern and she saw a child psychologist frequently throughout her childhood.
Arynn's first encounter with the supernatural was with the spirit of a young man that lived in her first home in Florida. She talked to him frequently and he was thought of as an imaginary friend. She and her family moved to Louisiana when she was ten years old and she had to leave her friend behind. However, she made a new friend named Justin Lemche. Unknown to her, his father was a hunter. When Arynn and Justin were eleven years old, Justin was possessed by a black-eyed demon. Arynn noticed his strange, cruel behavior, but did not understand it. She walked home with him, as she always did after school, and as they were about to part ways Justin forcefully dragged her into the house. She fought him and he roughed her up quite a bit before his parents restrained him. Arynn watched as Justin's parents exorcised the demon. Needless to say, she was very confused and it was a terrifying experience. Afterwards, Mr. and Mrs. Lemche sat her down and explained what had happened. They told her that salt and holy water would help keep her safe and to call them if anything strange ever happened to her. After this event, Arynn tried to explain the supernatual to her parents and they, again, sent her to a therapist. She learned quickly not to insist on the existence of the supernatural, but had a falling out with her parents as a result.
In middle school she started getting more outgoing. She was always part of several clubs, sports teams, and organizations - keeping busy all the time. She got straight A's and skipped her sophomore year of high school to be moved up to junior status. She lived with her aunt Henrietta during most of her high school career before graduating a year early and moving to New York City to go to college for fashion design. However, she quickly found out she was more interested in partying than studying. She also developed an addiction to cocaine during this time as a result of partying with the wrong people. When her grades plummeted, she had two choices: buckle down or drop out. She decided she'd been buckling down long enough and dropped out after completing her freshman year. After that she moved back in with her aunt Henrietta, having been estranged from both her parents since she was eleven. Henrietta tried to encourage Arynn to go back to school, but Arynn refused. Henrietta also quickly discovered Arynn had a drug problem and she convinced Arynn to check into rehab to get clean.
When Arynn was eighteen, her father, Brian, had a heart attack and her aunt flew her to Louisiana from their home in Florida and Arynn was forced to reconnect with her mother and help care for her father. She also reconnected with Justin Lemche, who was still living with his parents. He informed her that he'd become a hunter, like his father, and he traveled with him once in a while to help him with a hunt. He told her about all kind of supernatural things. Not just spirits and demons, but witches and werewolves and vampires. Arynn began doing extensive research on all things supernatural, going to the Lemches for confirmation on what she learned. Justin trained her in basic self-defense and the two again became friends. When it became clear that Arynn's father wasn't going to bounce back from the heart attack, she remained in the town. But she and her mother still did not see eye to eye on a lot of things, so Arynn ended up moving in with Justin and his family.
After her father died when she was twenty years old, she and her mother received an inheritence. Surprised she'd even been listed in the will after her estrangement from the family, Arynn didn't do much with the money. She simply put it in a bank account and used it to pay her student loan payments. Her mother, Loretta, went to live with Henrietta in Florida, leaving the house in Louisian in Arynn's hands. However, Arynn remained with the Lemche family, feeling more at home there than at her parents' old house. At age twenty-one, Arynn sold the family home and planned to move back to New York to possibly re-enroll in school. But, Justin informed her that he was going on his first hunt without his father and she agreed to go with him. They went to Mississippi to investigate a haunting. It was then that Justin and Arynn discovered that she could communicate with spirits and sense their presence. With her help, Justin was able to lay the spirit to rest by salting and burning its bones while she kept it distracted. Arynn traveled with Justin for a while until she helped him hunt a werewolf and killed it a little too violently. Justin thought this was a sign of a problem she should possibly get help with. The two had a falling out and parted ways. Arynn has been traveling alone since then, going where life takes her and hunting when she feels like it.
A Day in the Life of...
The diner was small and relatively quiet. The patrons and workers all seemed to know each other and Arynn caught a few small groups staring at her a few times, talking amongst themselves. It served her right for stopping to eat at a small town.
Arynn sat in a booth across from the counter. She was sipping a cup of coffee and reading a newspaper. A Sharpie sat beside her on the table. She was scouring the paper for potential cases. She hadn’t been on a hunt in a few weeks and she was starting to feel a little uneasy about it.
“All set with this, darlin’?”
Arynn looked up at a petite blond waitress, who was eyeing the empty plate Arynn had shoved to the other side of the table.
“Oh. Yeah, I’m good,” Arynn said.
The waitress smiled and picked up the plate.
“Can I get you anything else?”
“Just the check, thanks.”
“Alrighty.”
The waitress walked away and Arynn turned her attention back to the paper. She was reading about a young woman who had gone missing. She was the third in the state in a month. Arynn wasn’t sure on the details of any of the disappearances, but she was starting to think they weren’t coincidental. She grabbed her Sharpie, uncapped it, and circled the article’s headline. It was worth keeping an eye on, at least.
Arynn folded up the paper and shoved it into her purse along with her Sharpie. She took a few large sips of her coffee, trying to finish it before she left. When the waitress returned with the check Arynn paid in cash, leaving a decent tip. She polished off what was left of her coffee and grabbed her purse before heading out.
